UK- Facebook revolutionized social gaming by creating a credit system for some of the most popular online games like CityVille, Zynga Poker and FarmVille. But now it looks like the social network giant could be doubling down on the real gambling market. An exclusive published Wednesday from the UK’s eGaming Review revealed that Facebook is in talks with “several operators to open its platform to real-money gambling in the UK.” Vator News.

AUSTRALIA- A loophole in federal gambling legislation is allowing an online casino to take money from Facebook punters but not pay out winnings in cash, leaving unsuspecting punters out of pocket. The DoubleDown casino on Facebook gives players free chips – but once they are exhausted, punters are required to buy credits to continue to play online casino games such as poker and blackjack.

UK - As the UK’s largest casino opens at Westfield Stratford City today LondonlovesBusiness.com can reveal that one in six London managers spends at least £500 a month on gambling.

Our exclusive survey of 500 London mid-managers reveals that gambling is still very much a part of the capital’s social fabric. One in 14 managers visits casinos at least once a fortnight. One in three visits at least every two months.

Commenting on our findings, Liberal Democrat mayoral candidate Brian Paddick said: “Gambling addiction can cause real hardship for both individuals and their families. That £500 a month given to charity could make a real difference to those in need. London loves Business.

UK - The UK Treasury is expected to complete its review of the £1.7 billion British online gambling market early in December. Experts are of the view that the recommendation of a secondary licensing fee on offshore remote gaming companies operating in the British market is on the cards.

Last week the discussions arranged by Member of Parliament Matthew Hancock threw up a radical proposal. That may not be part on any immediate legislation but has definitely set the cat among the pigeons. The proposal sought to change the definition of where online gambling takes place from the operator’s server to the point of consumption, which is the player’s hardware. Casino Advisor (pro gambling site)

Liberalisation plans drawn up by most of Germany’s regional governments do not go far enough and still aim to shelter local state monopolies, said Betfair, which lodged the complaint in Brussels on Wednesday. The UK-listed company is one of the commercial operators wanting to open up the market. Financial Times.

In a new study of Victorian gamblers published in International Gambling Studies researchers from Monash University investigated how aware individuals were of gambling advertising; their attitudes towards gambling advertising; and what role they felt that different marketing strategies had on gambling behaviours.

Lead author and study Chief Investigator Dr Samantha Thomas from the Department of Marketing, said the results showed that the community had a heightened awareness and concern about the widespread advertising of gambling products, particularly during sporting matches. Health Canal.

EUROPE - Greek’s gambling laws have long been considered unfriendly to foreign companies, and newly adopted online gambling legislation seems to have sealed the nail in the coffin of non-Greek companies attempting to compete in the market.

This week, two online gaming groups, the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) and the Remote Gaming Association (RGA), filed a new complaint with the European Commission, outlining how the new Greek gambling policy is not compliant with EU laws.

When the EU first got wind of Greece’s new legislation, through a draft submitted to the Commission earlier this year, it immediately replied, stating that they were not acceptable to EU standards. Gambling Kingz. (Pro gambling site)
